Auto Reply Suppression

Configure JungleMail to automatically prevent out-of-office replies from being sent to the sender's address.

About the feature

Auto Reply Suppression adds several headers to your emails. Those headers instruct the recipient mail server not to send auto-reply messages (out-of-office replies) to the sender (“From” address). Keep in mind that the recipient server may or may not follow these instructions.

This feature is useful in scenarios where you need to send a company-wide internal newsletter and you want to prevent out-of-office replies from being sent to your inbox. The following headers are added:

  • X-Auto-Response-Suppress: All
Exchange-specific header that controls if auto-reply emails should be sent.
  • Precedence: bulk
Recommended by Gmail, this header indicates bulk email and disables auto-replies in some email clients. Although deprecated, it is still used.

Enabling

1. Go to JungleMail site collection settings.

2. Under Sending Settings, check the Suppress auto-reply emails box.

3. At the bottom of the page, click Save.
